The Beginner Jiu-Jitsu Program was created especially for those taking their first steps on the mat. More than just a physical activity, this program offers a welcoming and safe environment where you can learn at your own pace, build confidence, and learn the fundamental skills that every white belt beginner needs to know for your Jiu-Jitsu journey.

Why was this program developed?

This program was created based on my 30 years of experience teaching Jiu-Jitsu to beginners. Throughout my journey as a teacher, I identified a common problem: many students quit after a few months, especially when they reach the next level, which is the blue belt.

In the past, like most instructors, I believed the problem was with the students, thinking they lacked discipline. But over the years, I realized the issue was with the teaching method. Many instructors teach techniques randomly, without a structured plan, which makes the learning process confusing and discouraging, especially for beginners.

This motivated me to create a carefully organized and structured curriculum to guide and support students’ progress from their very first steps on the mat. With this proven methodology, I can develop in beginners all the fundamental skills needed for you to feel confident and prepared for the next level, the blue belt.

What Will You Learn?

How Do the Classes Work?

Each class lasts 1 hour and is divided into three parts:

  • Warm-Up (8-10 minutes): We start with a light warm-up to prepare the body. Natural movement exercises specific to Jiu-Jitsu help improve coordination, mobility, and physical conditioning.
  • Technique Demonstration and Practice (30-40 minutes): This is the main part of the class, dedicated to learning techniques from the fundamental curriculum for beginners. I demonstrate the technique step by step, ensuring everyone understands the details. Students then pair up to practice under my supervision, with constant feedback and personalized adjustments. The main focus is to correct common mistakes and avoid bad habits.
  • Drills and Repetitions (10-15 minutes): To reinforce what was learned, we finish with drills and repetitions focused on the technique of the week. This part is crucial for building muscle memory and confidence in the movements.

No problem! The program is well-structured but also flexible. If you miss a class, you can count on me to help you catch up on the missed content, either with extra explanations or guidance in the following classes.

Jiu-Jitsu requires constant practice, but the classes will be your main way of learning. Outside of class, it's good to practice what you've learned, but if you have any questions, I'm here to help and provide extra material to support your progress.

No, the program is more focused on teaching you Jiu-Jitsu with confidence and safety. Competitions are something you choose if you want. If you ever feel like competing, I can help and prepare you for that, but competing is not required in the program.
